Have you ever had a desire to become more deeply involved in the Guild?
Would you like to sit on the Guild council then?
Council is currently operating with two vacancies and a third will open later this year when Alison Lea jets off for a warmer lifestyle in Italy.
Council can co-opt ordinary members to fill these vacancies. Would you be interested?
What does sitting on council involve? Basically setting Guild policy and being part of the management of it would be the simple answer.
In essence we are there to deliver benefits to the members. Many of these are hidden, not least the organisation of awards and events, but also in ensuring their interests are representing in affairs of state (discussing problems and resolving them in such cases as Government communications with agri hacks).
I have always found that it is those who want to volunteer for these posts are the best rather than us volunteering someone to do it.
If you are interested then please either speak to Don, Nick or myself. You will find contact details on the website, www.gaj.org.uk under membership and then council.
Thanks
Joe
